There are many incredible benefits to acupuncture for pregnancy. Some women have even turned to acupuncture to help them get pregnant. Make an appointment with our Acupuncturist Dr. Reyna Howell, to see acupuncture can reduce many of the symptoms associated pregnancy such as morning sickness, nausea, anxiety, insomnia, back pain, constipation, pre-eclampsia, labor pain, post-partum depression and many others. Acupuncture has been used for thousands of years. Boca Raton Obgyn Patricia Chen‘s practice at The Women’s Wellness Center uses Acupuncture for pregnancy as part of our effort to combine alternative and western medicine. Many of our patients have reported amazing results from the use of acupuncture. My colleagues Dr. Gail Pezzullo-Burgs and Dr. Terrence Harris also encourage the use of acupuncture for pregnancy in their practices.
The combination of traditional western medical methods and alternative is a core principle and mission of the Women’s Wellness Center. We believe, under the guidance of a doctor, that these alternative methods are a powerful treatment option.
Acupuncture during the first trimester focuses on setting the foundation for a healthy pregnancy. Acupuncture is used to address and treat early pregnancy symptoms, such as nausea and fatigue.
Acupuncture during the second trimester aims to maintain balance and offer relief from many of the common complaints of pregnancy. Many patients will come once or twice a month for treatments. However, if addressing a specific issue, patients may consider more frequent treatments.
Acupuncture during the third trimester prepares the body for labor and delivery. Treatment may be used prior to breech birth or labor induction. Studies have shown that women who receive regular acupuncture treatments during the third trimester typically have shorter labor.
